WASHINGTON (TND) — Comedian Rosie O’Donnell sent an encouraging message to Michael Choen, a former Trump attorney, before his Monday court testimony, according to the New York Times.
Cohen is one of several witnesses testifying in the hush money trial against Trump. He told prosecutors details about Trump’s past and tied him to alleged schemes to cover up stories that could have damaged Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Just before taking the stand Monday, Cohen received a message from O’Donnell reading “breathe - relax - tell the truth - u got this - i love u,” the New York Times wrote. She added an hour later “ur doing great.”
Thank you and truly love you,” Cohen later reportedly replied. The two have developed an unlikely friendship, the publication wrote, after years of being at odds with one another over their relationships with Trump. Their relationship with one another reportedly began when they started communicating during Cohen’s 2019 tax evasion prison stint. It has remained strong ever since.
“We talk and communicate on a regular basis,” O’Donnell told the New York Times. “I know this has been a tumultuous time, so I check in. It’s a big thing to be in a position to be able to change the whole country in some way.”
